You
are home alone and the door bell rings.
Do you open the door to greet a stranger or do you remain quiet and wait
for the person to just leave? One of the important things to remember here is
that, in most cases, before a criminal breaks into a home, he will most likely
ring the door bell to make sure there is no one home. If no one responds to the door bell he is
likely to assume no one is home and proceed to enter the home. As you can see this could be a very dangerous
situation so here are some tips.
- Ask “Who is it?
- Never say, “I am home alone.”
- Never open the door to a stranger.
- If you are a female home alone, speak through the door
and tell the stranger that your husband is busy right now.
- If you are a child home alone speak through the door
and tell the stranger that your dad is busy right now.
- Install a see through “peep hole” in the door so you
can observe what is going on at your front door.
