Computer users keep a lot of sensitive data like email, credit card numbers, and passwords on their machines as well as data that they just don't want to lose; everything from family photos, to music and videos. If you're heading out of town on vacation or a business trip you should secure your data either by leaving your computer with someone you trust or, if you don't use your computer for on line banking, taxes, or purchasing things on line, you can back up your data on a portable hard drive (many come bundled with back up software) and put the backup in a safe place, perhaps a security box at your bank. When you stop to consider how much time you put into your computer backing up it's data is a wise thing to do even if you have a good security system.
